Last summer shortly after graduating college I flew out to Washington, DC to participate in a 10-week internship program run by OCA, a national pan-Asian Pacific American advocacy organization, the oldest to be based in DC. They placed me at the Peace Corps' headquarters where I worked in the Office of Overseas Recruiting, Selection and Support. It was a good learning experience and I had a great time in our nation's capital throughout the summer.
My favorite parts of the summer involved the amazing group of OCA interns that I was privileged enough to experience the summer with. At summer's end we all voted in a yearbook style survey on which intern was "most likely to..." and I was named "Most like to Come Back to DC...for Drinking D.C.'s leadership cool-aid."
This has proven prophetic as I've recently accepted a job as the Operations Manager of the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) in their DC office. I'll be back in DC by mid-May. I'm both excited about this great opportunity and sad to be leaving so many of my friends and family in the Bay Area.
I will keep you all posted on how life on the other side of the country is going. Take care and be well.
